Writing this post (despite being 7 months late) because I passed the period to review my Seoul Airbnb accommodation on Airbnb.
Anyway, click here to view the place! Originally my siblings and I wanted to go for another place which is more modern (?), but our host cancelled on us and after a lot of drama, we decided on John's place. The place has earned a 5-star rating from guests and John is a Superhost, which means that he's an experienced, highly rated host who is committed to providing great stays for guests.
First of all, let's talk about the place. It's strategically located between Hongik Station and Sinchon Station, the exact location is about 5 to 10 minutes away from the ever busy and lively Hongdae and Sinchon area, so it's a quiet place to have a good rest.
Checking in was really easy: I used the Line app to contact John (he's very good in English!) and confirm our time of arrival. He sent us the pass codes for both the gate and the door, as well as a map to his place.
The place is sparkling clean, it's small yet cozy with a private bathroom, kitchen, washing machine, free WiFi, TV, air conditioner and portable WiFi (for rental).
When we first arrived at John's place, he explained everything to us patiently and even suggested some attractions/ restaurants for us to visit. Our stay in Seoul was a pleasant one thanks to John's hospitality: he was always ready to help us out and he checked on us occasionally to see if we were alright.
John brought us some fruits when he found out that it was my dad's birthday and upon our request, he also assisted us to order food delivery. Now, if you have watched Korean variety shows/ dramas, I'm sure you would understand the feeling of seeing these...
YASSS. It's something that I've always wanted to do but couldn't simply because I'm not fluent in Korean at all, so ordering food delivery in Korea wouldn't have been possible without John's help. It was not really a fancy meal as you can see, we ordered jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jajangmyeon and fried chicken. We got a big bottle of Pepsi as service (i.e. for free) since we ordered quite a bit. But yeah, it was definitely something memorable for all of us.
John also offered to drive us to the airport for 60,000 won and honestly we were so grateful because we had so many luggage to carry! John didn't just drive us to the airport, he even helped us to carry and arrange our luggage so that everyone and everything could fit into the car. I blame all the skincare and snacks lolol
Would I recommend people to stay at John's place? Definitely a big fat YES. There's a reason why he received all the good reviews! It wasn't our first time in Seoul but I have to say that the experience of staying with a local really made it special.
