Based on chronological order, I'm supposed to blog about my Melbourne trip but I just can't wait to share my recent high tea experience in Bangkok! This took place in early July hence it's really very recent okay :P
To be honest, this was my first high tea experience since I couldn't bring myself to spend so much for high tea in Malaysia. However, I decided to sort of reward myself and just chillax while I was away for vacation. I started searching for awesome places to have high tea in Bangkok and Okura stole my attention instantaneously with its seasonal offerings.
The Okura Prestige Bangkok is accessible via walkway which links directly to Phloen Chit BTS Station. We followed the signs and made our way to the Up & Above Bar which is located on the 24th floor.
I bought my afternoon tea voucher from kkday at a price of RM171 for two person. The advantage of buying from kkday is that you don't have to go through the hassle of making reservation on your own (I heard that the Okura's afternoon tea is so popular that they sometimes have a full house). I also specifically requested for a seat by the window and I got my wish granted!
The afternoon set that we had was the lavender garden afternoon tea as shown above, which was ongoing from 1 July to 30 September 2018 and was available from 2pm to 5pm.

The redemption of voucher was very easy: I gave them a printed copy of my voucher and we were immediately escorted to our seats.

Tea and coffee selection |
It's not difficult to understand why everyone is raving about the Mariage Frères tea served here. I could smell the scents before the teapots were even placed in front of me. No joke.
We asked one of the waitresses for recommendations because we were spoilt for choices. In the end, we decided on Marco Polo black tea and Vert Provence green tea.
Marco Polo |
Marco Polo is a kind of fruity and flowery black tea. According to the waitress, it has a mysterious blend whereby different people may experience different tastes. I'm not an expert when it comes to tea (although I do prefer tea so much more than coffee), but I'm honestly in love with this! I could drink this everyday but I'm sure it's expensive af lol.

Vert Provence |
Vert Provence is the recommended green tea to go with the lavender garden afternoon tea. It has a lighter taste as compared to Marco Polo. I can assure you that it tastes nothing like your ordinary green tea!

We started smiling uncontrollably when the waitress brought these to us. It's so beautiful omg and it looks exactly the same as per the picture, the picture is not just for illustration purpose lol.
We spent almost 30 minutes just to take pictures from different angles wtf. But can you really blame us? Look at these beauties!
We started with savory food before moving on to sweet food. Without further ado, let me show you all the food pictures that I have captured :3
Crab, avocado, and nori tartlet |
White asparagus, sauce hollandaise, and capers |
Smoked trout layered with cucumber, horseradish, and rye |

Seriously even as I'm looking at these while typing, my heart is sooo happy wtf haha. Such Insta-worthy food. It tastes as good as it looks! If I'm not mistaken, they have a seasonal cherry blossom afternoon tea. I'm definitely going to try that if I happen to be in Bangkok next time I don't careeee!
